TechSheet Privacy Policy

TechSheet ("we", "our", or "the app") is a vehicle maintenance tracking app for car enthusiasts. This policy explains how we handle your information.

Information We Collect

TechSheet collects and stores the following information that you provide:

• Profile Information: Display name, email, phone number, and ZIP code
• Vehicle Information: Make, model, year, VIN, mileage, license plate, color, and photos
• Maintenance Records: Service history, dates, costs, mileage, shop details, and parts used
• Documents: Insurance cards, registration, warranties, and other vehicle documents you upload
• Maintenance Schedules: Custom and default maintenance intervals

How Your Data is Stored

The vast majority of your data — vehicles, maintenance records, documents, schedules, and OBD-II readings — is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. This means:

• Your data is synced securely across your devices
• Your data is encrypted and protected by Apple
• We do not have access to this data
• You control it through your Apple ID

Some Pro features require briefly sending vehicle information to our servers — see Vehicle Valuations below.

OBD-II Diagnostics

If you connect an OBD-II adapter:

• TechSheet communicates with the adapter via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
• Diagnostic data (engine RPM, coolant temperature, fuel level, battery voltage, etc.) is read from your vehicle in real time
• This data is stored locally on your device and in your iCloud account
• We do not transmit diagnostic data to any external servers

Vehicle Valuations (TechSheet Pro)

If you request a market valuation for a vehicle, the following information is sent from your device to our server, and from our server to MarketCheck (a third-party automotive data provider):

• Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
• Current mileage
• Your ZIP code

MarketCheck returns a predicted market value, which we cache briefly on our server to avoid repeated lookups for the same vehicle. We confirm with Apple that you have an active TechSheet Pro subscription before processing valuation requests; we do not retain the contents of your purchase.

We do not send your name, email, phone number, or any maintenance, document, or OBD-II data to MarketCheck.

Third-Party Services

TechSheet integrates with the following third-party services:

• Apple CloudKit: For secure data storage and sync across your devices
• Apple MapKit: For address autocomplete when entering shop locations
• NHTSA vPIC API: For decoding Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs). Only the VIN is sent; no personal information is transmitted
• MarketCheck: For vehicle market valuation predictions (Pro feature). Your VIN, mileage, and ZIP code are sent to MarketCheck and are subject to their privacy policy
• Apple App Store Server API: Used to verify that your TechSheet Pro subscription is active before delivering Pro-only features
• Affiliate Links: When you tap a parts recommendation, you may be directed to third-party retailers (Amazon, AutoZone, RockAuto). These retailers have their own privacy policies

Local Notifications

With your permission, TechSheet sends local notifications for:

• Upcoming maintenance reminders
• Document expiration alerts
• Mileage update reminders

These notifications are generated entirely on your device. No notification data is sent to any server.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not sell your data to third parties
• We do not use your data for advertising
• We do not track your activity across other apps or websites
• We do not collect analytics or usage data
• We do not collect precise device location (ZIP code, used for valuations, is something you provide directly; MapKit is used for address search only)

Your Rights

Since your data is stored in your iCloud account:

• You can delete the app and your local data at any time
• You can export a full backup from Settings at any time
• You can manage your iCloud data through Apple's settings
• You can request data deletion by contacting us
